Golden rule farm, plymouth, ma,2/21/2024 In addition to its Department responsibilities, the K-9 Unit provides assistance to all of the 27 communities in Plymouth County. The Unit also assists with internal security, conducting periodic narcotics searches of housing units and acting as an integral part of the Facility Tactical Response Team, which is tasked with disorder management. The primary responsibility of the unit is to ensure the integrity of the perimeter of the Plymouth County Correctional Facility. The Unit also has 2 Patrol Dogs cross-trained in ballistics detection. The single purpose dogs, 2 Labs, 1 Border Terrier, and 1 Golden Retriever, are all Rescue Dogs from area shelters. Five of the teams are trained in narcotics detection, one cross-trained patrol dog and 4 single purpose canines. The Plymouth County Sheriff’s Department K-9 Unit consists of 9 K-9 teams.
